A romantic commision

I had a lovely commission just before Christmas from a couple celebrating their first year anniversary.

They wanted a little comic of how they met from the first day up to their one year anniversary.  Lot's of fun.

Jack and Dylan

A couple of weeks ago, the wonderful Jack Cullen asked me if I wanted to draw him and fellow podcaster Dylan for their latest Soundcloud episode - they have such great faces, how could I say no?

So if you are into gay London nightlife, go to Jack and Dylan's Soundcloud "Gay babies, Chem pugs and Video Games"

... Just when you thought it was all peaceful landscapes and happy children over here

Hello!

Hello everyone - I'm back!

What an amazing summer it's been.  So many amazing sights.  Everyone is asking which was my favourite part...

Was it climbing up a volcano in Bali to see the sunrise?

Was it trekking the Great Wall and seeing the empty miles stretching across the landscape?

Or maybe it was going to cooking school in Thailand and spending all day long eating curry?

I just can't decide!

Sorry to make you all jealous :P

To be fair, I think the best thing might just be coming home and having proper tea, a roast dinner - and my laptop back again!

Pining for England

About to go traveling for 11 weeks and I must be pining for England already.  When I'm feeling homesick, I think I will spend a few minutes watching this green-and-pleasant gif I made yesterday.

From a photo taken in Dad's garden with my brand new camera:

Drawn in Bristol interview

The folks at Drawn in Bristol have just posted up an interview with me on their blog page.

I talked about the circus project and some work I've been involved with for Lux and the Shadowmaker at the games hub.  Something else a little different!

You can read all about it here:

More giff-ing

I'm not sure how I came across it, but I ended up on Youtube yesterday watching a video on digital painting.

This guy was an absolute boss at town scenes and I realised that I hardly ever draw them.

He would start off using tone to plan out out thumbnail compositions.  I've never tried doing value sketches in Photoshop before but it turned out to be very useful.  I might have to use this method for planning out my roughs.

It was so much fun using this layered technique, I ended up making another animated gif.  Started off with large simple shapes:

Added some more detail:

Have a look at this guy's channel - although all the work there is enough to make you weep and want to go back to art school for another five years:  Tyler Edlin's Youtube Channel
